Bench bleeding the master cylinder is the first step to installing the brake master cylinder. Wipe away any dirt from the power brake booster along the master cylinder's vacuum seal, so no debris enters the booster. The mounting flange on the master cylinder needs to have a brand new vacuum O-ring seal (2) installed. Should the master cylinder's new vacuum O-ring seal be missing, take it out and add a new one that fits evenly against the mounting flange. Should resistance be felt when inserting, place the master cylinder push rod on top of the booster push rod and reinsert. Slide the parts together until the master cylinder touches the face of the booster after you have aligned the holes and the push rods. Add two master cylinder adding mounting nuts (3) and tighten down each to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). For manual transaxle vehicles with a new reservoir, make a cut through the "V" groove (2) at the actuator port in order to open the hydraulic clutch port (1) and remove the severed plug (3). Move the clutch actuator hose (2) onto the reservoir port (1) and attach the hose clamp right past the upset bead. Attach the primary (1) and secondary (3) brake tubes to the master cylinder's (2) outlet ports, tightening them to 17 Nm (150 in. lbs.). Attach the wiring harness connector to the brake level switch and reconnect the ground cable to the battery negatively. Fill the reservoir of the master cylinder until it reaches the proper mark. After bleeding out the hydraulics, put the brake pedal under slight pressure to ensure there is little or no give. Do a road test with the car to test the brakes as well.
