Before you start servicing the rear section of the cooling area, pull out the refrigerant from the system and detach the negative
Battery Cable. Remove the housing of the air cleaner, loosen the nut holding the A/C suction line at the front, disconnect the two A/C line pieces and get rid of the dual plane seal. Seal or tape over the openings of both the suction line fittings. After that, remove the nut connecting the front A/C liquid line to the back section, separate the tubes and throw away the dual plane seal screen, blocking or covering the open liquid line fittings again. Separate the wire harness from the A/C pressure transducer, unbolt the refrigerant line mounting bracket from the left front shock tower and remove the nut holding the liquid and suction line tapping block to the
A/C Expansion Valve. Cut the rear suction and liquid connections from the A/C expansion valve, throw out the dual plane seal and seal or tape the newly open fittings and ports. Remove the rear suction and liquid lines of the A/C as a single assembly from the engine area and if required, take off the A/C pressure transducer from the rear A/C liquid line. Remove the A/C pressure transducer after installation, attach it to the A/C liquid line, set the rear sections of both lines as an assembly in the engine compartment and take the tape or plugs off the fittings and ports. Coat a new dual plane seal with new R-134a refrigerant oil, place it on both the suction and liquid line fittings and be sure to install a seal made with the specified materials for this system and the recommended oil. Secure the rear sections of the A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve, add the nut that holds the tapping block, tighten it to 23 N.m and then secure the refrigerant line mounting bracket to the left front shock tower, with its mounting bolt tightened to 11 N.m. Plug in the wire harness at the A/C pressure transducer, then lubricate and attach a dual plane seal onto the liquid line fitting and tighten the nut on it to 22 N.m. Repeat for At the end, install the new air cleaner housing, plug the negative battery jumper into place, flush and empty the refrigerant system and fill it back up.
