If the oil hasn't been purged, use your fingers to help the center arm pin of Special Tool 8186 to move the tensioner's check ball. The O-ring inside the tensioner should be inspected for wear or damage and the snap ring should be firmly installed. Replace either part if there is a problem. Check and set the alignment of the belt position before installing the tensioner. It's important to insert the tensioner onto the cylinder head, so that the dowel hole in the tensioner lays in the same position as the matching hole in the cylinder head. Check the tensioner retaining plate O-ring and swap it if necessary, next place the retaining plate and bolts and tighten these to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.).
