  A rubber grommet on the left side of the engine compartment holds the A/C accumulator, but before replacing it, the refrigerant should be recovered from the A/C. Originally, remove and restore the refrigerant from the system. Take the liquid line off its connector on the A/C accumulator and disconnect the liquid line attached to the suction line assembly from the A/C accumulator, then pull the A/C accumulator from the rubber grommet and remove it. The A/C accumulator is fitted into a rubber grommet that is located on the right side of the engine compartment. Change the A/C line seals on each section you unassembled to prevent leaks of refrigerant gas. Put the A/C accumulator in its rubber grommet, put the other liquid line onto the A/C accumulator and put the third liquid line onto the A/C accumulator. Lastly, remove the refrigerant from the system and charge it again.

  For servicing and repairing an A/C accumulator, you should first remove the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Take out the bolts holding the liquid lines to the A/C accumulator and get rid of the O-rings in the open (liquid line) fittings. After opening the fittings and A/C accumulator ports, tape over them or put plugs in place, then get the A/C accumulator out of its hole in the engine compartment. Remember to add 1 fluid ounce (30 milliliters) of oil to the refrigerant, just the oil specified for use in the vehicle compressor. Slide the A/C accumulator into place in the mounting grommet and take off the tape or plugs from both the liquid line openings and the A/C accumulator port. Lubricate any new rubber O-ring seals with clean R-134a oil and fit them onto the liquid line fittings, using only the special rubber O-rings recommended. Attach the liquid line fittings onto the A/C accumulator and install the bolts, bringing them to 2.3 Nm (20 in lbs. of tightness). Then, disconnect the vacuum pump and fill the refrigerant system.
