Before you change the A/C evaporator on right-hand drive vehicles, make sure to disconnect the battery's negative cable and drain the cooling system. Empty the refrigerant system and afterwards pull out the instrument panel. After that, remove the bolt holding the refrigerant line and pull out the lines, with the final step to take the electrical connector at the bottom off the expansion valve. With the expansion valve retaining bolts removed, you can take out the valve. Disconnect the
Heater Core supply hoses, then inside the engine compartment, take out the heater and A/C housing fasteners and the drain tube, then pull the hose from the nipple. Inside the car, take out the defroster duct from the connector between the Heater-AC assembly and the body, then remove both the retaining bolts and all connectors. Open your vehicle and disconnect the A/C-Heater housing before placing it on a bench. You should then remove the heater core cover and the coolant lines. Remove the coils from the A/C-Heater housing assembly. Place the evaporator coil in the A/C-Heater housing and make sure all seals are back to their original spots, then assemble and fit the housing again in the vehicle, attaching it with bolts torqued to 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.). Put the electrical connectors back together, reinstall the defroster duct and secure both ends of the A/C-Heater housing drain tube, plus the retaining clip. Replace the housing retaining screws, all tightened to a torque of 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.) and then connect the heater core coolant supply hoses. Place the expansion valve and its gasket, using retaining bolts that need to be set to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.) before you plug in the electrical connector to it. Set the refrigerant lines in place with their retaining bolt, twist the bolt to 23 Nm (203 in. lbs.), inspect the line's O-rings for signs of damage and lubricate them. After that, reattach the instrument panel, remove and recharge the refrigerant, top off the cooling system and reattach the negative cable to the battery.
