  Q: How to Service and Repair the Control Arm Bushing in the Rear Lower Control Arm on Dodge Neon?

  Since you can't service or replace the front isolator bushing, begin by removing the lower Control Arm from the vehicle for rear isolator bushing work. Compress the Remover Receiver, Special Tool 8373-1, into the Ball Joint Press, Special Tool C-4212F, cup with your fingers until it clicks and tighten the set screw as much as possible. Place Remover Driver, Special Tool 8373-2 onto the tip of the Screw-drive on the Ball Joint Press. Before completely tightening the screw-driver, press the lower control arm's outer flange against the Receiver. Screw the Driver in steadily until it contacts the entire outer edge of the bushing. When finished, loosen off the screw-driver, pop out the lower arm and remove the bushing from the Receiver along with the driver and receiver from the ball joint press C-4212F. When assembling, make sure the back of the press C-4212F is backed out so it won't go too deep against the cup-end piece. Feed the bushing into the lower control arm bushing hole by hand and make sure the rubber's openings point toward the ball joint. Attach the Receiver and Special Tool 6760 to the end of the screw drive on the Ball Joint Press, apply the lower control arm flange where it meets the cup area on the ball joint press and then tighten the screwdriver until the Receiver is against the outer rim of the bushing. Screw the ball joint press in fairly slowly, then stop once you see the bushing fully seated in the lower control arm bushing bore. After this, unscrew the ball joint press and remove the power steering gear from the press and reattach the lower control arm to your car.
