  Clip a hose clamp onto the end of the power steering cooler inlet a short distance from the steel fitting on the gear end. On a left-hand drive car, fix the cooler outlet tube into the open tube routing clamp positioned on the right front of the power steering housing and snap the clamp closed. After that, connect the hose with the cooler to the steering gear outlet port. Fit the hose clamp over the power steering cooler fluid hose just past where the bead is in the steel fitting and then secure it in place. Position the cooler onto the front suspension crossmember and use two screws, tightening them both to 10 Nm (90 Inch lbs.). Place the end of the power steering fluid return hose onto the power steering fluid cooler's outlet tube and secured this with a hose clamp, moving the clamp to the side of the cooler tube's bead. Decrease the vehicle, perform the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation step and inspect all electrical connectors for leaks.

  The first step in working on the system is to drain as much power steering fluid as you are able into a container. Use the maintenance manual to lift the vehicle. Take out the hose clamp connecting the power steering fluid return hose to the cooler and separate the return hose from the cooler. Afterward, take out the hose clamp that holds the power steering cooler fluid hose to the steel fitting located in the power steering gear outlet port. Access the two screws behind the cooler by working through the openings above the crossmember. Remove the routing clip from the right front of the power steering housing and remove the cooler tube. Get the cooler out of the vehicle before you continue. Slide the hose clamp down onto the end of the power steering cooler fluid hose, so it doesn't hit the steel fitting on the power steering gear. Place the hose pipe with the cooler in the fitting on the steering gear, line the rear tube of the cooler with the open clip and then snap it on and close the clip. Slide the hose clamp beyond the bead made in the steel fitting before securing the power steering cooler fluid hose. Return the two screws to fix the cooler to the front suspension crossmember and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm (90 inch lbs.). Reconnect the power steering fluid hose to the cooler tube and set it with the hose clamp, letting the end of the hose go past the bead of the cooler tube. Remove the vehicle support and start the procedure for Power Steering Pump Initial Operation to properly fill and bleed the power steering system. Check for any leaking at each connection to the system.
