You should begin by removing the engine from the vehicle because the crankshaft needs to be separate first. First, take out the engine and then the engine oil pump. Do not lift on the
Oil Pan gasket during the oil pan removal because it is attached to the cylinder block in three places and will not come off with the oil pan. After that, take out the bedplate mounting bolts and make a note of where the two stud bolts are located for putting them back when you're done. Unlink the connecting rods from the crankshaft without harming the important sealing area between the bedplate and the cylinder block. The bedplate holds the lower main bearing halves, so treat it carefully and do not damage or drop them, because faulty installation of the main bearing halves can destroy the crankshaft. Lift and remove the bedplate using the pry points that have been cast into it. Next, get rid of the crankshaft and the crankshaft tone wheel.
