Remove the axle shaft and then open the metal shaft using a small pry bar to remove the seal from the axle tube. Remove all traces of sealant or burrs from inside the axle tube bore. Add a small amount of axle lubricant to the seal's lip and put Handle C-4735-1 and Installer C-4076-B into place, checking that the seal is set at the right depth while the tool touches the axle tube. Following the seal installation, gently put the axle shaft in and secure the differential cover. After that, fill the cover with gear lubricant up to the filling plug hole.

How to Replace an Axle Shaft Seal on a 9 1/4 Inch Rear Axle on Dodge Ram 1500?

Put the transmission in neutral, raise the car on jacks and then work on the rear axle seals. After removing the wheel, take out the brake caliper, adapter and rotor. After that, remove the axle shaft and use a thin pry bar to eliminate the seal from the axle tube. Remove every bit of old sealer and burrs from the axle tube bore before moving forward. Put a layer of axle lubricant on the seal's lip, then mount it with Installer C-4076-B and Handle C-4735-1 so it is secured to the correct depth as the tool touches the axle tube. Having installed the axle shaft, bolt on the differential cover and pour gear lubricant into the bottom hole of the cover. After the pads are done, put the brake rotor, caliper adapter and caliper back together before installing the wheel and tire. Remove the support and lower the vehicle at the end.
