For access to the lifter/lash adjuster, remove the air cleaner assembly, take off the air inlet hose and then take off the cylinder head cover. After that, take out the rocker assembly and push rods to ensure you can still tell which push rod goes where before putting the assembly and push rods back. Take off the intake manifold, then pull out the yoke retainer and both of the yokes. Guide the Hydraulic Tappet Remover/Installer Tool C-4129-A into the hole in the cylinder head so it secures in the tappet head and then pull the tappet from the bore by twisting it. Repeat for each tappet if there is more than one. If you find scuffing on the tappet, bore or a problem with a bore in the cylinder block, size the bore up and select an oversize tappet to install. For installation, first oil the tappets and then set the push rods back where they were. Make sure that the oil helps in the tappet body upside when you install it. Put the aligning yokes in place, with the Arrow facing towards the camshaft, slide the yoke retainer into position, tighten the bolts using 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) of torque and next put the intake manifold, push rods and rocker arms back in place. Then, replace the cylinder head cover, connect the air cleaner and hose and start the engine while it warms up, being careful not to let the engine go above fast idle until all tappets are oiled and make no sound.
