Dodge Ram 1500 Van Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the windshield washer reservoir on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
Before servicing or repairing the windshield washer reservoir, isolate the battery by taking out the negative cable. Then, take out the headlamp and dash wire harness from the switch connector receptacle of the washer fluid level switch and also remove the headlamp and dash wire harness connector for the washer pump/motor unit from the motor connector receptacle. Take off the washer supply line from the washer pump's or motor's barbed nipple so the water can drain into a container you can save. Unscrew the two holders securing the top of the washer reservoir to the top of the radiator closure panel and lift the reservoir tip up to remove the reservoir tab from the slot in the lower radiator cover panel. When installing, put the washer reservoir in the back of the radiator closure panel, press down to secure the tab at the bottom of the washer reservoir in its slot on the bracket and secure the top of the reservoir to the top of the panel with two screws tightened to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Reattach the washer supply hose to the barbed outlet on the washer pump/motor, then attach the washer pump/motor wire harness to its motor connector and then attach the washer fluid level switch wire harness to its switch connector. Put back the washer fluid you drained earlier into the reservoir and then attach the battery negative cable again.
