First, turn off the air bag system by cutting the negative battery cable and then give the system two minutes to prevent its accidental deployment. The first step is to get rid of the steering wheel panel and the tilt knob attached to it. After that, unwind the screws from the upper shroud, remove the clips between them and take out the shroud. After that, remove the screw in the center that connects the lower shroud to the lock housing and lift the shroud. Detach the panel wire harness connector then remove the screws holding the multi-function switch to its base. Installation involves placing the new multi-function switch onto the mounting housing and holding it firmly with screws tightened to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Put the lower shroud over the steering column and install the center screw, giving it the same 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) torque value given previously. Following this, place the upper shroud against the frame, line up the snap features and press by hand to fit them. Tighten the upper shroud bolts so that each is at 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) and then replace the tilt steering column knob and the shroud cap. After that, connect the battery negative terminal cable back.
