In case a clutch disc is installed on a Diesel engine having a Dual Mass Flywheel and self-adjusting pressure plate, the pressure plate needs resetting. Otherwise, the clutch disc may get damaged. To start off, check the runout as well as free operation of the new clutch disc. Also, NLGI - 2 rated grease for crank shaft pilot bearing. The clutch alignment tool should be installed in the clutch disc hub with the raised side facing away from the flywheel, the flywheel side faces is imprinted on the disc face. Following this, place the alignment tool in the pilot bearing and place the disc on the flywheel. Carefully position the pressure plate on the disc and then onto the flywheel. The pressure plate is usually replaced with the worn clutch as it loses its clamp load over a period. To avoid warping the pressure plate cover, align the pressure plate and hold it in position and install the bolts finger tight. Then, tighten the bolts in a diagonal manner. For V6 and V8 engines, the pressure plate bolts are torqued to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). For Diesel engines, the torque is 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Detach the release lever and release bearing from the clutch housing, apply Mopar high temperature bearing grease to the bore of the release bearing, contact surfaces of the release lever, and release lever pivot stud. A thin film of Mopar high temperature bearing grease must be applied to the splines of the transmission input shaft and the release bearing slide surface of the transmission front bearing retainer. Over-lubricating the shaft splines could grease contaminate the disc. Do not do this. Ensure the pilot bearing surface is clean. Install the release lever + bearing in the clutch housing. Ensure that the spring clips that hold the lever on the pivot ball and the release bearing are correctly installed. The release lever part number should face down on the bottom of the transmission and in the upright position with the stamped "I" facing the pivot ball side. Lastly, put the transmission and transfer case in place if your vehicle has one. Also, ensure the clutch master cylinder fluid is at the right level, and depress the clutch pedal a number of times.
