Before fitting the clutch release fork, check the surface of the bearing slide on the transmission front retainer. Change the retainer if the slide shows signs of scoring, wear or cracking. Following this, inspect the release lever and the pivot stud, making sure the stud is secure and not damaged while the lever isn't twisted or worn; put in new fork spring clips if you find any bent or damaged ones. Cover the threads of the input shaft, the inside of the retainer bore, pivot stud and release lever lever surface with Mopar high temperature bearing grease. After that, place and secure the release fork and bearing, verify that the release lever is in place with the rear raised area facing the slave cylinder side of the transmission and lock it with the spring clips. You should install the transmission and transfer case in the last step.
