Before servicing or repairing the shock absorber of an independent front suspension, first lift and prop up the vehicle. Take the retainer, grommet and shock upper nut off and then remove the lower mounting bolt from the arm to separate the shock. To install, stretch out the shock and position the retainer and grommet on top, with wear in mind. Steer the shock through the top of the suspension arm bracket and put on the top grommet, retainer and nut, tightening the nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Find the longer leg of the shockiner lined up with the lower suspension arm and fasten it temporarily with the mounting bolt, making sure the torque is 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.). Temporarily remove the support and gently bring the vehicle down.
