You should first open the car's hood, remove the engine cover and disconnect the remote battery's ground before taking off the timing cover. Uplift and sustain the vehicle and then make the engine rotation 40 degrees after Top Dead Center. Put in the crankshaft locking tool and take off the lower splash shield. Drain the coolant and the oil inside the engine and afterwards remove the lower bolt of the oil dipstick tube. Lift up the vehicle, remove the
Grille and cooling module and next pull out the PCM and engine harness. After that, unbolt and take out the upper oil dipstick tube, the oil dipstick and tube, the
Intake Manifold and the air pump. Unscrew and remove the bolts from the lower
Oil Pan, followed by the lower oil pan and then do the same with the upper oil pan bolts and upper oil pan. The next step is to remove the accessory
Drive Belt, the thermostat housing and the thermostat gasket and after that take off the accessory drive
Belt Tensioner assembly and the oil filter/cooler housing. Take off the idler pulley, the crankshaft damper bolt and the crankshaft damper pulley and also remove the
Water Pump pulley bolts and the water pump pulley. Take out the water pump and gasket and after that, remove the left front cylinder head cover and the right side air control valve bolts and valve. Take out the right air control valve gasket, the upper right front cylinder head cover, the left air control valve, the left air control valve gasket and the left air control valve adapter gasket. Move the
Power Steering Pump and AC compressor to the side, remove the generator and take off the covers on both the left and right cylinders. Get rid of the
Timing Chain Tensioner, install a drift where it will lock the gears found in the
Camshaft and remove the roll pins at the right cylinder head. Take off the center valve bolts, remembering that the bolts on the intake camshaft are on the left-side and the bolts on the exhaust camshaft are on the right. Be sure to keep the
Timing Chain from falling by taking off the CMP plates and then removing the camshaft adjusters. Afterward, come to the cylinder head to front cover bolts and notice that the front cover bolts are not all the same size, then remove all of them and the front cover.
