  Remember to release all fuel system pressure before servicing the fuel pressure regulator because it stays under pressure while the engine is off. The fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator sits on top of the fuel pump module and does not have to be taken off. Use a hoist to get the vehicle up and then remove the Fuel Tank. Loosen the cap at the Filter/Regulator nipple to cut off the supply of fuel. Press down on the tab marked "locking spring" on the Fuel/Regulator, turn it 90° counter-clockwise and remove it, while making certain the Filter/Regulator assembly has two O-rings. To mount the Filter/Regulator, check the fit of the two hold down tabs with the flange, insert the Filter/Regulator into the opening and give the O-rings a light amount of engine oil. Whenever you apply pressure downward, turn the Filter/Regulator clockwise until you feel the spring tab fit into the locating slot. Put the fuel tank back in place, link the fuel line to the Filter/Regulator and bring your car down from the hoist.

  Before servicing the fuel pressure regulator, be sure the fuel system pressure is relieved, because it is continuously placed under pressure even when the engine is turned off. Both the fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump are found on top of the fuel pump module and there is no need to remove the module. You should start by lifting the auto and taking out the Fuel Tank. Open the fuel supply line from the Filter/Regulator nipple, then uncoil the spring tab on the Filter/Regulator side and move the assembly 90 degrees counter clockwise to get it out, making sure the O-rings remain. Before you install, smear the O-rings with a small amount of engine oil, join the Filter/Regulator and fuel pump module at the opening and align the hold down tabs with the flange. Twist the Filter/Regulator clockwise as you put pressure down until the spring tab enters the complimentary slot. Attach the fuel tank, link the Filter/Regulator to the fuel line and remove your vehicle from the hoist.
