    Q: How Should Idle Control Valve and Throttle Body Components Be Serviced and Reassembled on Dodge Stratus?

    When putting back a Throttle Body's components, add new O-rings and seals where they are required, but do not lubricate them beforehand. If fitting the parts by hand is tough, add some water and be gentle when taking out the hoses. The process starts by getting rid of the negative terminal from the battery and then taking out the electrical connector from the idle air control motor. After that, unscrew the holder screws and get the motor out of the throttle body, making sure you remove the O-ring along with it. The installation of the new idle air control motor includes a new O-ring already installed. If the pintle is wider than 1 inch (25 mm), it has to be pulled back in using the DRB III Idle Air Control Motor Open/Close Test with the battery on. After setting the idle air control motor inside the throttle body, place the mounting screws and tighten them to a torque of 4.5 N.m (40 in. lbs.). After that, connect the electrical connector to the idle air control motor and reattach the negative cable to the battery.

    The idle air control motor is installed next to the Throttle Body. First, detach the throttle body, after that, take off the connector from both the idle air control motor and the Throttle Position Sensor. Then, loosen and remove the screws holding the idle air control motor in place and withdraw the motor so the O-ring also gets removed. The O-ring is a new addition to the idle air control motor included during installation. A dispensing technician must use the DRB AIS Motor Open/Close Test with battery power if the pintle measures larger than 1 inch (25 mm). Slide the idle air control motor into position in the throttle body, secure it with the mounting screws to 5.3 Nm (45 in. lbs.) torque and tighten them by hand. Once you have completed the cleaning, put back the connectors to the idle air control motor and throttle position sensor and install the throttle body.
