To work on the back brake disc, lift the vehicle and prise off the wheel and tire. Avoid getting the caliper piston close to the bore at this point, as only a specific tool can be used to keep the caliper safe. As you hold the anti-rattle spring, take out the rear disc brake shoe retaining pin to avoid injury. Pull out the retaining pin and anti-rattle spring, ensuring the snap ring is not corroded or damaged while you have them out. Pull the outboard brake shoe toward the back of the disc, so it moves over the caliper and raise it out. Now perform the same for the brake shoe on the other side of the main cylinder. Put a mark on the disc and one on a wheel mounting stud and then detach the disc from the hub. With the Spanner, Special Tool 6366, rotate the caliper piston clockwise until completely seated, using needed force. Place the disc in the car with the marked hole lining up with the marked stud hole before tightening the disc. If the disc brake shoes look new, they can be put in whichever rear position you choose, but make sure original ones are replaced in their original location. Install the inboard brake shoe first, then the outboard shoe, placing the anti-rattle spring in place before driving in the retaining pin to prevent hurting yourself. Set up the anti-rattle clip and add the brake assembly retaining pin through the loops in the spring. Place a pin hammer on the drift and hold the cap against the bore while tapping the pin. Assemble the wheels with the tires, holding back on tightening the wheel mounting stud nuts until the chassis and suspension are installed. Once everything is ready, tighten the stud nuts after pre-tightening them to half specification and next to the full required amount of 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.). Lower the automobile down, then use the brakes several times to set the brake linings and adjust the parking brake. Test the feeling of the brakes by pressing the pedal down before you begin to drive the vehicle; this will remove any foreign matter and get the shoes into proper contact with the lining.
