- Q:How to Install a Brake Pads for the Parking Brake on Dodge Viper?A:The first step to installing a parking brake pad is to remove the brake pads. If the piston isn't fully into its bore, stick the handle from the Piston Retractor 6366 into the two holes at the top of the piston and rotate it clockwise to retract it. After that, install the parking brake pads into the caliper so the inboard and outboard shoes are exactly the same. Put the anti-rattle spring in place, then pass retaining pin 1 through the spring and through the holes in pads 2. Keep using the drift punch to install the retaining pin in the caliper until the snap ring on its end sits all the way in and then install hair pin 3 into the brake pads retaining pin. Mount parking Brake Caliper 3 on knuckle 1 and hold it in place with brake caliper mounting bolts, tightening bolt 5 to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) and bolt 4 to 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.). After that, put on the wheel and tire assembly, tightening each mounting nut gradually following the proper order to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Drop the lift floor so the wheels reach the floor, cycle the parking brake, pull the parking brake lever completely and then take off any blocks on the tires.
