Dodge Viper Exhaust Resonator Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to service and repair an Exhaust Resonator on Dodge Viper?
    A:
In order to carry out servicing and repairs on the exhaust resonator, first hoist up the vehicle and remove the side sill panel. Make use of a penetrating oil on the band clamps, then remove the muffler. To eliminate the resonator/intermediate pipe and isolate the resonator/intermediate pipe, you disconnect and remove the downstream oxygen sensor. During the installation process, begin by attaching the resonator/intermediate-pipe to the cat-pipe, but do not tighten the band clamps. After that, install the muffler, but do not tighten the band clamps. Fix the bolts on the resonator/intermediate pipe and muffler isolators. Tighten these bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Thereafter, the band clamps need to be tightened to 70 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) Attach the downstream oxygen sensor, snugging it to 27 Nm (240 inch lbs.) and connecting the wiring harness. Reinstall the side sill panel finally.
  • Q:
How to remove the Exhaust Resonator on Dodge Viper?
    A:
To remove the exhaust resonator, first raise and support the vehicle, then remove the sill panel. Apply penetrating oil to the resonator and spout assembly band clamps, and loosen these clamps before discarding them. Next, remove the "B" pillar support isolator, and separate the spout assembly from the resonator. Finally, detach the resonator from the catalytic converter and remove the resonator.
