In order to carry out servicing and repairs on the exhaust resonator, first hoist up the vehicle and remove the side sill panel. Make use of a penetrating oil on the band clamps, then remove the muffler. To eliminate the resonator/intermediate pipe and isolate the resonator/intermediate pipe, you disconnect and remove the downstream oxygen sensor. During the installation process, begin by attaching the resonator/intermediate-pipe to the cat-pipe, but do not tighten the band clamps. After that, install the muffler, but do not tighten the band clamps. Fix the bolts on the resonator/intermediate pipe and muffler isolators. Tighten these bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Thereafter, the band clamps need to be tightened to 70 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) Attach the downstream oxygen sensor, snugging it to 27 Nm (240 inch lbs.) and connecting the wiring harness. Reinstall the side sill panel finally.
