For the timing cover to fit, the chain case cover and cylinder block need to be clean and without burrs, so use a plastic scraper and Mopar Brake Parts Cleaner or a similar substitute for this task. Be sure to take out the crankshaft oil seal, look at the timing chain cover gasket (2) and change it as needed. Place gasket (2) in the timing chain cover (1) groove and add oil to the oil pump to get it primed before installing it. Place the rotor mating flats on the oil pump against the crankshaft drive flats before inserting the timing chain cover, to make sure the pump is not damaged. First, hand start bolts # 1 and # 2, then fit the mounting bracket (2) for the A/C compressor and tighten all the bolts by hand. Use a socket wrench on the rest of the timing chain cover bolts, tighten them all in the exact sequence and tighten the A/C compressor mounting bracket bolts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). HTTP please the engine drive front
Crankshaft Seal, hoist the vehicle and check the O-rings (1) on the oil pipes for damage or wear. Place the oil pick-up tube (2) inside the sump and tighten bolts (1,3) to 28 Nm (248 in. lbs.). If the tube is not moving, loosen the mounting bolts and re-tighten them. Set the
Oil Pan and
Drain Plug, put the vehicle backs onto the ground and place the A/C compressor bolts, tightening them accurately to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Link the oil cooler line and the heater hose and then install the crankshaft damper and pulley. With the battery disconnected, connect the coolant bottle inlet hose to the thermostat housing, place the generator and connect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor's wiring harness connector. Then, secure the
Power Steering Pump to the car using its bolts, fit the accessory
Drive Belt, link the upper and lower radiator hoses, fasten the front strut tower to tower brace (1) and mount the air cleaner housing (1). Replace the
Oil Filter, ensure the correct oil fills the engine crankcase, top off the cooling system, attach the negative
Battery Cable, put the cover over the battery and don't forget to close the trunk.
