Make sure you unhook the negative
Battery Cable before servicing and repairing the valve springs and seals inside your car. Release the spark plug recessed area by blasting compressed air over it and remove each spark plug by hand. After that, remove each of the cylinder head covers. Turn the
Crankshaft so that No. 1
Piston arrives at its compression stroke TDC position. Take out the
Rocker Arms with pivots, so that the rocker arm bolts stay in the trunion. Set an air hose on the spark plug adapter found in the No. 1 spark plug hole and apply 620.5 to 689 kPa (90 to 100 psi) air pressure. Surround the valve spring being operated with a suitable shop towel to keep the valve retaining locks out of the engine. Fit the MD998772A Compressor on top of the valve, with adapter 6885 underneath, to get pressure on the valve spring and remove the valve keepers. Disconnect the valve spring compressor, get rid of the valve spring and retainer and finally remove the valve seal. Firmly push the stem seals straight over the guide using the valve stem as a guide to make sure the seal is against the top of the guide. Squeeze the spring minimally to fit the valve retainer locks in place and make sure you aren't squeezing the seal between the retainer and the top of the valve guide. Perform the procedure for the remaining 9 cylinders and always confirm that the piston is at TDC when removing the valve spring from that cylinder. After you're done with the valve spring, pull out the spark plug adapter tool, replace the rocker arms and fit the cylinder head covers. It's time again to attach the jumper cable to the negative battery terminal.
