The first step is to isolate the battery negative terminal so the air bag system powers off and afterward, wait for about two minutes for its capacitor to drain. First, separate the center console from the floor panel transmission tunnel; second, remove the console rear duct. After that, loosen the three screws holding the center console to the inner rear wall and remove the bracket. Disconnect the instrument panel floor wire harness from the air bag Control Module (ACM) by pushing the latch tabs in and taking the connector straight off. Take out the three bolts holding the ACM in place and remove the ACM from the mounting bracket. Start by removing the four screws on the ACM mounting bracket from the floor panel transmission tunnel. After that, take out the bracket. During installation, put the ACM on the mounting bracket so the arrow on its label is in front and tighten the three nuts so they reach 7.3 Nm (65 in.lbs.). Make sure the latches are clicked all the way into the left center of the instrument panel wire harness connector before reconnecting it. Attach the rear mounting bracket for the center floor console over the ACM using three screws that are fastened to 1.1 Nm (10 in.lbs.). Put back the rear console as well as the center console. Do not attach the battery negative cable until the air bag system verification testing is over. Attach the ACM mounting bracket to the floor panel transmission tunnel and secure it with four screws at 12 Nm (106 in.lbs.). Next, put the ACM back onto the bracket.
