Brake hose and line service and repair should be done with a preformed metal brake tube, yet, in emergency cases when replacement parts are not accessible, double-wall steel tubes can be used. To stop kinking or twisting brake tubes, you need special bending tools and you need special flaring tools to produce a double inverted ISO flare. When doing double inverted flaring, first use a Tubing Cutter to cut the damaged tubing and then ream the cut parts to make a proper flare. Attach a new tube nut to the tube, put the tube into the flaring tool and place the gauge form over the tube's end. Horizontalize the tube and pass the tubing through the flaring tool until it fits into the indentation for its diameter, then tighten the bar against the tube using the adjusting tool. Place the plug of the gauge into the tube, rotate the compression disc over the base and put the tapered flaring screw into the center of the compression disc. Secure the tool handle after the plug gauge snugly fits in the flaring tool's jaws which should initiate the inverted flare and then pull out the plug gauge to complete the flare. You should use the Snap-On Flaring Tool TFM-428 or any other tool you have for ISO flaring. Trim the broken off part with a Tubing Cutter, smooth out the inside and mount the tube nut onto the tube. Line up the end of the tube at the top of the flaring tool, then secure it to the tool bar so it's tight. Slide the suitable adaptor onto the yoke screw of the flaring tool, grease the adapter, fit it over the tube and turn the yoke screw clockwise until it sits firmly on the tool bar.
