You need to change the Viton with one lip
Crankshaft rear main oil seal as a complete unit, rather than half by half, to make the engine leak-proof. Let's begin by taking out the transmission inspection cover, the
Oil Pan, the main bearing cap brace and the rear main bearing cap (No. 7). Slide the seal out of the groove so it doesn't harm the crankshaft or groove and then take out the lower section from the bearing cap. Before installing the seals, first wipe down the crankshaft where the seal will sit, then apply a thin amount of engine oil there and to the edge of the seal. Place the upper seal into the cylinder block groove so that the lip is at the front of the engine. Spread Mopar Gasket Maker sealer around the edges of the cylinder block and the rear bearing cap on each side, both times ensuring the dab/bead is 3 and 2.3 mm, respectively, so it doesn't touch the seal lip. Swab the lip of the lower seal with engine oil and brush soap around the rest of the outer curve, before lowering it into the recess of the bearing cap. Set the rear main bearing cap in place by hitting it only twice and ensure all main bearing bolts are tightened to the correct 108 Nm torque. After that, fit the bearing cap brace in place and tighten the nuts to 47 Nm. After that, line up the oil pan gasket with the cylinder block and install the oil pan, smeared with Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant at the back and front where the rear main bearing cap and front cover meet.
