Always remember to separate and disconnect the battery negative cable before starting any work on the
Air Bag system or components of the
Steering Wheel and steering column. Wait two minutes to allow the system capacitor to lose its charge, before proceeding with additional service to avoid being injured. Disconnect the negative
Battery Cable from the battery before you remove the cruise control switch. After that, remove the air bag module. From below the steering wheel, untighten the screw holding the speed control switch, pull out the switch and carefully separate the electrical connector. To install, insert the electrical plug into the switch, adjust the switch so it is close to your steering wheel and tighten its screw to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.) torque. Replace the air bag module in your car and link the negative battery cable to the battery.
