  You must first detach the serpentine Drive Belt before handling the power steering pump. After that, disconnect the pressure until you empty the pump and take off all the hoses from it. Go to the pulley holes and take out the three pump mounting bolts and then loosen the three bolts connecting the V8 pump bracket. Place the pump on a tilt away from the engine and remove the pulley. Install the pulley on the pump first and next fix the pump itself onto the engine. Tighten the pump bracket bolts to maintain 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) and secure the three pump mounting bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Reconnect all hoses to the pump, put the drive belt in place and add power steering fluid before you run the pump the first time.

  Installation of the power steering pump must be done with the engine off. Check the fluid with Mopar Power Steering Fluid or another brand, not with automatic transmission fluid and do not overfill. Check the filler cap and see that the dipstick says Cold when the ambient temperature is normal. Fill the pump fluid reservoir up to the right level and let the fluid remain for at least two minutes. Run the engine for a short while, then turn it off. Should it be needed, add more fluid and repeat the process until no more fluid leaks after starting the engine. Raising just the front wheels off the pavement, start moving the Steering Wheel from one direction to another 20 or more times. Rebuild your trust and practice. Drop the jack stands, push the start button and roll the steering wheel back and forth from the locked position. Turn off the engine and look at the fluid, adding any necessary amount. Should the foam or milkiness in the fluid seem extremely severe, allow the vehicle to sit for a few minutes and try the process again, not running it with the foamy fluid for too long so as not to harm the pump.
