All three parts-the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and the connecting line-are overhauled only as a single unit, because the slave cylinder parts are permanently sealed. Begin by placing the vehicle on a hoist with it in neutral, take out the slave cylinder from the clutch housing and if you have body clips on the line, disconnect it. Bring the vehicle down and fix the reservoir cap tightly so that fluid doesn't leak out. After that, undo the clutch master cylinder nuts, pull the actuator away from its pivot and separate the wires from the safety switch. Take out the hydraulic linkage through the engine. Be sure to retighten the master cylinder reservoir cap, place the clutch linkage parts in the car and slide both the connecting line and slave cylinder downward near the clutch housing after the engine. Secure the clutch master cylinder to the dash in front of you, put the actuator on the pivot pin beneath the clutch pedal and tighten the master cylinder nuts to 38 Nm (28 ft. lbs.). While the car is raised, put the push rod through the hole in the clutch housing and secure it into the release lever. Place on the slave cylinder nuts and bolt them until they reach 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.); after that, close the clutch fluid line in the body and the transmission clips, then attach the wires of the clutch interlock safety switch.
