Before working on the front impact sensor, turn off the SRS by pulling out its negative battery cable, waiting two minutes and isolating it from its positive cable. Never hit or drop the front impact sensor, because it might damage it. Swapping out sensors between the front and side can be done easily. Attach the impact sensor onto the right or left front of the engine and rejoin the engine compartment wire harness connector to the sensor connector receptacle. Put the sensor onto the back of the radiator support vertical member, right or left, so the anti-rotation pin from the sensor enters the clearance hole on the radiator support. Fit the sensor by installing and tightening its holding screw on the back of the support vertical member to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.). Do not attach the battery's negative cable until you finish the special restraint system verification test after you have serviced any relevant parts.
