How to Properly Service a Control Arm Bushing and What Steps Are Involved for a Jeep Cherokee?

First thing to do is remove the upper suspension arm from the axle to work on and repair the control arm bushing. If you have a 4x2, insert Spacer 7932-3 above the axle bushing and for the right side of a 4x4, follow the same steps. Slide the flanged end of Receiver 7932-1 over the bushing and press the small side of Remover/Install 7932-2 against the other section of the bushing. Put Bolt 7604 through the remover, bushing and receiver, add Long Nut 7603 and tighten the nut to bring the bushing out of the bracket. Spacer 7932-3 goes in before the bushing on a 4x2 vehicle or the right side of a 4x4 vehicle after you have taken out the nut, bolt, receiver, remover and bushing. To install, place Receiver 7932-1 on the side away from the axle bracket, fit the new bushing into the bracket with the large end of Remover/Install 7932-2 placing it against the bushing and strike the Remover/Install hard with a hammer until the axle bracket will not move anymore. Push Bolt 7604 through the receiver, bushing and installer and then join Long Nut 7603 and tighten it to pull the bushing inside the axle bracket. Take out the tools and install the upper suspension arm last.

How to Service and Repair a Control Arm Bushing on Jeep Wrangler?

You should take out the upper suspension arm before you service and repair the control arm bushing. On a 4x2 vehicle, locate Spacer 7932-3 above the axle bushing and do so as well on the right side of a 4x4 vehicle. After that, put Receiver 7932-1 around the flanged part of the bushing and hold Remover/Install 7932-2 against the open end of the bushing. Bolt 7604 to the receiver, remover and threaded hole with Washer 7607. Next, secure Long Nut 7603 and turn it to push on the bearing and lever out of the axle. Once you have removed the nut, bolt, receiver, remover and bushing, keep Spacer 7932-3 there while installing a new bushing on a 4x2 or on the right side of a 4x4 vehicle. Set Receiver 7932-1 on the bracket side opposite from the axle and put the new bushing next to the axle bracket, making sure the long end of Remover/Install 7932-2 rests against it. Slot the receiver, bushing and installer around bolt 7604 and work the Long Nut 7603 over the receiver until the bushing is fully drawn inside the bracket. After that, take the tools out and restore the upper suspension arm.
