Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuse Box on Jeep Patriot?
A:
To start servicing the fuse box, first cut off the connection from the battery negative lead. After that, remove the front bumper fascia separately. Then press down on the holding clips and remove the fuse box from the bracket. Take out the wire harness together with the fuse box at the end. Always check for risks and take care when dealing with cars that use air bags to stop any chance of accidental deployment leading to injuries.
Q: How to Service a Fuse Box on Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A:
Before servicing the power distribution center, disconnect and isolate the battery negative terminal to stop the air bag system. Wait two minutes afterward to allow the air bag system capacitor to empty its charge. First, take out the upper retaining clip by pulling up on the cover's edge and remove the screw that holds it in place at the bottom. Remove the bottom side JB connectors first, then reach behind the JB to remove the connector on top. Remove the screws that connect the JB to the mounting bracket and open the two snap clips at the top of the JB, pulling the JB's top out and up so the lower tabs come free. Take the JB from inside the opening at the bottom of the instrument panel. When you replace the JB, follow the diagrams to guide you in placing each fuse, circuit breaker and relay from the broken JB into where they belong on the new JB. Align the two lower tabs of the JB with the openings in the lower part of the JB mounting bracket and the JB's upper snap clip units with the openings in the top of the bracket. After you have the JB in hand, place it into the bracket and push it down until the snap clips connect, secure the four screws that join JB to the bracket to 2.2 N-m (20 in. lbs.). Restrain the connectors on the top side and bottom side of the vehicle to the JB. Last, fit the steering column opening cover into position, fasten it with the screw and press the top of the panel in to attach the top retaining clips before attaching the negative battery cable.
