  Before servicing or repairing the camshaft oil seal, remove the Timing Belt first. Take advantage of Special Tool 6847 to keep the sprocket of each camshaft still during removal of the center bolt. Subsequently, remove the sprockets, the exhaust camshaft target ring and the exhaust camshaft sensor from the cylinder head. While inspecting the target ring and sensor for wear and cleaning the sensor face, add a new spacer pad to the sensor hood during reinstallation. Uncover the rear timing belt and use Special Tool C-4679-a to safely remove the camshaft seal without damaging either seal surface or bore. The shaft seal surface must be clean of varnish, dirt or scratches before installing and can be polished with 400 grit paper if needed. With Special Tool Md-998306, fit the camshaft seals into the cylinder head and push them until they are even with the head. Installing the timing belt rear cover requires making sure that its target ring tab provides a strong snap on the camshaft. The Front side of the exhaust camshaft target ring should face you before fitting the exhaust camshaft sensor. Install the camshaft sprockets again, using Special Tool 6847 to hold each sprocket as you tighten the central bolt to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) and lastly, insert the timing belt and front covers.
