Heater Core is even more critical to vehicles such as Jeep Liberty because it is used to whisk warm air to the cabin by using excess engine heat. Similar to a small car radiator this part is cooled by a water and anti-freeze solution as hot coolant from the engine flows through it to warm cabin air. A temperature control system, valves or doors, to control the flow of the coolant in the core for controlling the climate. further, the heater core can also serve the function of cooling the engine and dehumidification of the air in conditioned car. Still, it suffers from the challenges associated with any standard tank, such as clogging and leakage; however, increased model complexity significantly aggravates the problem since the core must be disassembled to address such difficulties.

Jeep Liberty Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is the Heater Core Installed on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
Make sure the heater core tubes are not moved, loosened or taken out before you install the heater core, to prevent leaks and risks. If you find damage in the foam insulator on the heater core, you should replace it. Set the heater core (2) into the passenger side of the air distribution housing (3) and then fix each of the four plastic retainer tabs (1) to lock it in place. In place the heater core tube flange (4) onto the heater core tubes (6), centered on the passenger side of the air distribution housing (8). Wrap the plastic retainer (5) all the way around the heater core tubes so that it snaps into place. Screw (2) is placed to connect the heater core tube flange to the air distribution housing and tightened to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). After that, place the upper front passenger side floor duct (7) on the air distribution housing and secure with two retaining screws (1). Tighten these screws to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). Replace any damaged foam seal around the heater core tube and then fit the new foam seal (3) onto the heater core tube flange. After everything is in place, lock the air distribution housing into the HVAC housing and if you're replacing the heater core, flush the cooling system first.
  • Q: How to Remove a Heater Core on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
The air bags must be disconnected from the car's electric system by removing and isolating the negative Battery Cable ahead of disassembling the heater core. Servicing the heater core tubes alone is not necessary and moving, loosening or removing them should be avoided to prevent coolant leaks. Open up the HVAC housing shell, then put it on a workbench near the area you will be working. Remove the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing after that. Take out the two screws at the passenger side of the air distribution housing that hold the upper front passenger side floor duct in place and then remove the duct. Take the foam seal out of the tube flange on the heater core and change it if you notice it is deformed or has become damaged. Release the air distribution lower housing screw, slip off the plastic retainer around the heater core tubes, then remove the flange. After that, lift the four retaining tabs and remove the heater core from the passenger side of the air distribution housing.
