For the steering column installation, first place and secure the column inside the steering coupler. After that, fit the column harness and join it to the switches, before redirecting the shifter interlock cable through the tie straps. Secure the front half of the mount to the studs and attach the two mounting nuts and two mounting bolts in place, but don't tighten them yet. Make sure to screw the lower nuts before the upper nuts, to prevent harming the capsules. Apply 17 Nm (150 in. lbs.) of torque to the lower mounting nuts and the upper mounting nuts as well. First, put in and tighten the steering column coupler bolt to 53 Nm (39 ft. lbs.). After that, reconnect the shifter interlock cable. If you need to, put the center of the
Clock Spring on the column for installation. Bring together the two column shrouds and install the screws that will hold them. Secure the steering column opening cover and do not use the old
Steering Wheel bolt; replace it with a fresh one. Be sure the mounting bolt on the steering wheel is tightened according to the proper specifications for the Clock Spring. Mount the steering wheel and put the bolt on tight to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and if your car has cruise control, link the clock spring harness to the cruise switch harness. Once finished, put in the
Air Bag and attach the negative battery terminal again.
