Turn off the SRS, detach the negative
Battery Cable and wait two minutes so that air bags do not deploy while handling the Clock Spring assembly. A correctly installed service Clock Spring has a molded plastic locking pin in it which must not be removed until after the
Steering Wheel is installed; taking it out will require centering the Clock Spring. Before you move, be sure the steering wheel is pointed straight and locked. When using a new Clock Spring, take the multifunction switch harness from the old one or hook in a replacement jumper. Move the Clock Spring over the
Steering Column upper shaft, then slot the three wire harnesses into the back of the Clock Spring case. Fasten the lock housing onto the steering column and secure it with three screws, placed lower right first, then upper left and finish at upper right and fasten all three to 3 Nm (27 in. lbs.) to prevent any noise when rotating the steering wheel. Insert the left and right multifunction switches into their positions on the Clock Spring and then place the upper and lower shrouds back on the steering column. Set the steering column all the way up and lock it in place and then reinstall your steering wheel. Now, pull the plastic locking pin out of the Clock Spring rotor so that the mechanics stay centered and reattach the battery's negative cable.
