Jeep Patriot Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Washer Pump on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
Before you remove the pump, unplug and separate the car's negative Battery Cable. Suck the fluid in the Washer Reservoir (1) through the siphon hose and put it in a clean container. After that, remove the washer pump/motor unit (3) connector receptacle's top cover from the top of the washer pump/motor unit and unplug the engine compartment wire harness connector (2). After that, detach hoses 4 and 5 from the two outlet nipples on the washer pump/motor unit. Pull the washer pump/motor straight up and out of the washer, taking care that the inlet nipple slides freely out of the grommet seal/filter screen in the reservoir and that no damage results. After that, take out and discard the rubber grommet seal/filter screen that was blocking the pump hole in the washer reservoir.
  • Q: How to Install a Washer Pump on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
Before beginning, put a new rubber grommet seal/filter screen unit into the windshield washer pump opening in the reservoir, making sure it's not used. After that, place the inlet nipple of the washer pump into the rubber grommet seal/filter screen in the reservoir and press the washer pump/motor unit downward until the nipple is completely secured. Connect the two washer hoses to the barbed pump outlet nipples, so that the hose in the trough alongside the reservoir engine attaches to the rear black nipple and the hose on the inboard side attaches to the front white nipple. After that, plug the wire harness connector from the engine compartment into the top connector receptacle of the motor housing. Once that's done, put the battery negative cable back in and replace the washer fluid you siphoned from the reservoir during the removal step.
