How to Install and Reprogram an ABS Control Module on Jeep Wrangler?

Replacement of the ABM with a new one requires using a scan tool to program it properly. Begin the installation process by fitting the ABM onto the Hydraulic Control Unit and tightening the screws so that they get 2 Nm of torque or 16 in. lbs. Mount the HCU/ABM assembly onto the studs and tighten it with mounting nuts and a bolt to 11.5 Nm (102 in. lbs.). Join the brake lines to the HCU and torque them to 19 Nm (170 in. lbs.). Attach the wiring harness connector to the ABM by pushing down on the release so that it stays secure. Put in the master cylinder and link the negative battery cable back to the battery. Bleed the ABS brake system last, to finish the entire installation process.

Before repairing or servicing the Electronic Brake Control Module, remove the master cylinder. Next, set up a prop rod on the brake pedal so your car holds pressure on the brakes. Separate the cable from the battery that connects to the negative terminal. Open the harness connector and take the connector out. More importantly, disconnect the brake lines from the HCU. Remove both the HCU/ABM mounting nuts and bolt, then get rid of the HCU and ABM connected assembly. Make sure to remove the ABM from the HCU.
