How to Service a Fuel Tank Skid Plate on Jeep Wrangler?

Before you service the fuel tank skid plate, let the skid plate down using a support and remove the caps on each end of the straps. Following this, disconnect the skid plate from the straps and the crossmembers by removing their nuts; then, get the fuel tank strap free from the bottom of the skid plate. Lift up the fuel tank and take the skid plate off the vehicle. Before installing, put the skid plate on the fuel tank strap and fit it below the fuel tank. Secure the skid plate to the frame and straps by screwing the nuts in tightly, with the fuel tank bolt needing to be tightened to 5 N.m and the remaining skid plate nuts to 16 N.m. Now, put protective caps on finish off the strap studs and get rid of the support under the skid plate.
