How to Safely Remove and Service a Fuel Level Sensor on Jeep Wrangler?

Before you begin service, empty the fuel tank, clear out the fuel and open the fuel system relief valve as the fuel is under pressure even with the engine off. Before taking it out, record the setup angle of the module using the arrow on the module. Push the special Lockring Remover/Installer tool 9340 into the notches on the edge of the lockring. Use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar with Lockring Remover/Installer tool 9340 and turn it counter-clockwise to take off the lockring. With the lockring taken off, the module will rise and can be carefully taken out of the fuel tank without bending its float.

How to Install a Fuel Level Sensor on Jeep Wrangler?

Hold the unit over the fuel pump module reservoir and gently push it down until the snap button clicks into its place. Be sure the wires for the fuel level sensor are not squeezed between the spring's coils when the module is at its tightest. After that, connect the electrical connector on the fuel level sensor and set up the fuel pump module.
