How to Service the Headlight Switch on the Left Multifunction Control on Jeep Wrangler?

Turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and wait two minutes to allow the system capacitor to discharge by removing and isolating the vehicle's negative battery cable. Take out both the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column at the start. After that, disconnect the wire harness connector secured at the back of the left multifunction switch. Take out the screw that is holding the left multifunction switch to the bracket on the left side of the Clock Spring. Draw the switch out of the way from the Clock Spring to make the slide tabs leave the notches in the back of the bracket. Following this, remove the jumper wire harness connector from the left multifunction switch at the inboard end and take out the switch from the Clock Spring.

How to Install the Headlight Switch on the Left Multifunction Control on Jeep Wrangler?

To avoid accidental deployment of air bags, turn off the SRS by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes to give the system capacitor time to discharge before starting your installation. Attach the left multifunction switch directly next to the Clock Spring bracket which it connects the jumper wire harness to the switch's housing. Ensure the tabs of the slide tabs fit over the aligning holes on the Clock Spring bracket and then press the switch into position until it is fastened. Install and torque the mounting screw to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) on the mounting bracket to the front of the left multifunction switch. Connect the panel wire harness to the back of the switch, put the upper and lower shrouds back on the steering column and push them into place. Don't forget to attach the battery negative cable to the battery in the end.

Attach the left multifunction switch directly next to the Clock Spring bracket which it connects the jumper wire harness to the switch's housing. Ensure the tabs of the slide tabs fit over the aligning holes on the Clock Spring bracket and then press the switch into position until it is fastened. Install and torque the mounting screw to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) on the mounting bracket to the front of the left multifunction switch. Connect the panel wire harness to the back of the switch, put the upper and lower shrouds back on the steering column and push them into place. Don't forget to attach the battery negative cable to the battery in the end.
