How to Properly Remove and Install a Speed Sensor on 2000 Dodge Caravan?

If the vehicle speed sensor is taken out you will need to reinstall an O ring on the outside diameter of the vehicle speed sensor. First disconnect the harness connector from the sensor; make sure the weather seal remains in place on the harness connector. Remove the bolt that holds the sensor in the extension housing and then carefully remove the sensor and pinion gear out of the extension housing. Take the pinion gear off the sensor. The removal procedure is reversed for installation and the extension housing and sensor flange should be clean prior to installation and always use a new sensor O ring. Finally tighten the bolt to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.) and speedometer cable to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
