2000 Dodge Dakota Cruise Control Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Remove and Install a Cruise Control Switch in an Airbag System on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: The air bag system needs to be deactivated, so connect a negative battery cable to an uninsulated surface, wait two minutes, then start the installation. Before you remove the cruise control switch, unhook and isolate the negative battery cable and then remove the air bag module. Then, after taking out the switch-to-steering wheel screws, uninstall the switch and connect the electrical connector at the switch. After attachment, connect the electrical connector to the switch, put the switch into place and fix it with the screws at 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.) torque. After testing, remove the air bag module and reconnect it once more. Then, attach the negative battery cable back to the battery.
