How to Service and Properly Install a Fuel Injector on 2000 Dodge Dakota?

The fuel system is being pressurized, so the pressure should be released before you service the fuel injectors. The process starts with taking off the air cleaner assembly followed by the fuel injector rail assembly. After that, remove the clips holding the injector(s) to the fuel rail and take out the injector(s) from the fuel rail. Fuel rail installation becomes simpler if you place clean engine oil onto the O-ring of each fuel injector. After that, put the injectors and injector clips back on the rail and lastly, fit the fuel rail assembly onto the engine. When you're finished, replace the air cleaner, put the vehicle in gear to start the engine and see if it's leaking any oil.
