2000 Dodge Dakota Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Exhaust Manifold on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step in tending to the exhaust manifold is to remove the negative battery cable and put the vehicle on jack stands. Separate the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and then set the vehicle down to pull out the fasteners 2 through 5 that hold the intake manifold in place. Go on to remove fasteners 1, 6 and 7 so you can remove the engine exhaust manifold. Clean the joining parts of the intake manifold, engine exhaust manifold and cylinder head so that nothing enters the intake manifold or cylinder head through the ports. You should now fit an intake manifold gasket over the alignment dowels and then set up the assembly for the engine exhaust manifold, placing it in the center over the end studs and spacer. Bolt No.1 to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) of torque and after installing the intake manifold on the dowels, bolt 2-5 to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.) torque. Slide the new exhaust manifold spacers over the engine studs on the cylinder head and tighten nuts 6 and 7 to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque. Put each component into the intake manifold, raise the vehicle and click the exhaust pipe into the engine exhaust manifold, tightening the bolts to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.) torque. Statistics suggest that after the vehicle is lowered and its battery cable is reconnected, start it to examine whether there are leaks.
