2000 Dodge Durango Exhaust Heat Shield Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: First, lift and sustain the vehicle to work on the heat shield. Take out the screws and nuts fastening the heat shields to the vehicle structure and floor pan after disconnecting the oxygen sensors which is crucial because the heat shield over the muffler must be taken off after you remove the muffler's front and rear holders. Slide the shield into place around the parts of the vehicle's exhaust system. For the installation process, fit the heat shields to the base or frame, add the screws and nuts and tighten them to no more than 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.). For the muffler hangers, use 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). After all, bring down the car to the ground.
