2000 Dodge Durango Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service or Replace an Exhaust Pipe on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: First, unplug the oxygen sensor harness from your vehicle before servicing or replacing any parts of the exhaust system. At first, lift up the vehicle, then apply Mopar Rust Penetrant to all the bolts and nuts. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Get rid of the oxygen sensor(s) and remove the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust pipe nuts, then take out the exhaust pipe/converter to muffler exhaust clamp. After that, take off the exhaust pipe/catalytic converter from the muffler and remove the exhaust pipe as well. When installing, line-up and fasten the exhaust/catalytic converter with the muffler, securing it with an exhaust clamp and tightening the clamp bolts until them hit 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.) torque. Adjust the nuts on the exhaust pipe(s) to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs) as you hook up the exhaust manifold to complete the connection. Connect the oxygen sensor back to make sure, then slowly raise the vehicle, check for exhaust leaks and double-check that it does not come into contact with the body panels.
