2000 Dodge Durango Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Exhaust Manifold on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Start by disconnecting the negative battery lead and lifting the car when dealing with an exhaust manifold. After unscrewing the nuts on the exhaust pipe to manifold, start lowering the vehicle. Should you need to, remove the three nuts, heat shield and washers from the right side exhaust manifold and do the same for the left side, taking off two nuts, heat shield and washers. Then, remove the fastening bolts, nuts and washers holding the manifold to the cylinder head and take the manifold off. If the nuts pull both the studs and the wall parts out, replace the studs. Put the exhaust manifolds on the studs next to the cylinder head, then put conical washers and nuts on them. Work from the center arm toward the outside and install bolt and washer sets in each hole, making certain to tighten them to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) torque. Place three washers, a heat shield and nuts on the side of the exhaust manifold that is threaded to the right side, then tighten the nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Take the vehicle up again, fit the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold and hold it in place with bolts, nuts and washers, tightening the nuts until they reach 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque. Afterwards, lift the vehicle slightly and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
