How to Maintain an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2001 Dodge Durango?

Lift and fix the vehicle to start servicing the heat shield. Unscrew the screws and nuts holding the heat shields to the chassis and to the floor pan and be sure to unplug both oxygen sensor connectors before taking out the muffler heat shield which needs the front and rear hangers of the muffler to be removed. Slide the shield over the area of the exhaust system. Put the heat shields back in position on the floor pan or frame after installation and fit the screws and nuts, making sure they are tightened to a torque of 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.). The last step is to lower the vehicle.
