2000 Dodge Neon Cooling Fan Assembly Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace and Install Components of a Cooling Fan Assembly on 2000 Dodge Neon?
A: Cooling fan modules contain the fan, the fan motor and the shroud. If a fan is bent, cracked or damaged, replace it only with a part that has been recommended for best strength, performance and safety. Start by pulling out the cooling fan module, then simply take out the nut and fan from the shaft of the motor. To install the fan, slide it onto the motor shaft, fix it with the retaining nut fastened to 3.8 Nm (34 inch lbs.) and replace the cooling fan module. Remove first the cooling fan module, disconnect the fan from the motor shaft, get rid of the in-rush current suppressor and lastly undo the screws attaching the fan motor to the shroud. With the fan motor placed on the shroud, tighten the screws to 3.8 Nm (34 inch lbs.), put on the in-rush current suppressor, tighten it to 2.6 Nm (23 inch lbs.) and hook the fan to the motor shaft and the cooling fan module. Take out the cooling fan module and the fan and fan motor just as before and then add the fan motor and fan following the instructions. After that, reinstall the cooling fan module.
